Minister H. E. Gemedo Dalle of Ethiopia visits the Center for an informal conversation

The Center for Governance and Sustainability was pleased to welcome H. E. Dr. Gemedo Dalle, the Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Ethiopia on Wednesday, October 3. Minister Gemedo holds a Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology from the Georg-Aust University of Goettingen, Germany. He was appointed Minister in November 2016 and uses his expertise in the interconnectedness of biodiversity to establish conservation and management efforts.

Minister Gemedo joined the Center for an informal, engaging, and fruitful exchange with UMass students from various disciplines interested in environmental governance. Discussion topics included his career path from academia to an official position at the ministry and the environmental priorities of Ethiopia, including their Climate-Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) initiative. The discussion concluded with the potential for international cooperation and knowledge exchange.
