The Horn of Africa Regional Environment Center and Network (HoA-REC/N) and the Center for Governance and Sustainability have announced a new joint project entitled “Environmental Governance: Research, Education and Training.” The two Centers have been working together since the 2009 Global Environmental Governance Forum in Gilon, Switzerland. For the past five years, they have collaborated on research, conducted joint projects, and co-hosted events. This new project marks another link between the two institutions.

The project itself is multi-dimensional, but will focus on environmental governance education and training. Center for Governance and Sustainability research associates will assist in designing an environmental diplomacy training course, develop training modules for a course on environment issues in the Horn of Africa, and prepare research papers on issues of environmental governance relating to the Horn of Africa. The work will impact courses offered both at Addis Ababa University and the University of Massachusetts Boston.
