Third Rencontres Internationales de Reims to Meet
On June 19th and 20th, 2013, the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne will host the Third Rencontres Internationales de Reims in Sustainability Studies to address the future of sustainable development after the expiration of the Millennium Development Goals in 2015.
The conference, organized by the International Research Center on Sustainability, plans to present and to discuss issues relating to environmental governance, regional development, and social justice that arise from a quickly changing world. Moreover, the conference aims to define the nature of a new social contract for sustainable development–an exercise that is crucial to ensure the effective and fair management of global commons.
The conference will center around a variety of speeches given by civil servants, government officials, social scientists, natural scientists, and development leaders. The Global Environmental Governance Project will be represented by Senior Fellow Harris Gleckman, who will speak about “The Future of Environmental Governance” to explain possibilities for the institutional and organizational frameworks of environmental governance.
